About Erie Driveway Paving
Erie Driveway Paving is a locally owned asphalt paving contractor working Erie and Erie County, Pennsylvania. We replace failed driveways, resurface the ones worth saving, patch potholes and trench cuts, fill cracks, seal sound surfaces, pave new drives on raw ground, convert gravel lanes, widen and extend, and pave and repair commercial lots. We are licensed and insured in Pennsylvania.
What we do differently sits under the asphalt, where nobody photographs it. The old driveway leaves the property. The subgrade gets compacted and proof-rolled, and the soft areas come out instead of getting paved over. Base stone goes down in lifts and each lift gets rolled. Hot mix lands in two courses, a coarse binder course and a finer surface course, both rolled while they are still hot enough to reach density. A driveway built that way carries load. A driveway that is two inches of asphalt over old cracks carries a season or two.
Erie gives pavement a harder winter than most of the state. Snow comes off the lake in volume, sits, melts in a thaw, runs into every crack, and freezes again that night. Freezing water lifts asphalt off its base and sets it back down uneven. Then the plows work the edges. This is why base depth and drainage matter more here than the color of the sealer ever will.
We also say no. If the surface is sound and the cracks are hairline, we will tell you to fill and seal rather than pave. If the base has failed, we will not sell you an overlay that cracks again in the same lines. If you want a concrete driveway, we will point you to somebody who pours concrete. Turning down work costs us jobs. It costs less than paving something twice.
Every quote is written, and it states the square footage, the compacted base depth, and the compacted asphalt depth. Your driveway gets measured, then priced. Nothing gets sold off the back of a truck.
